AMMAN — President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Khalil Hajj Tawfiq and Jordanian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Hamzeh Omari on Thursday discussed ways to strengthen economic ties and increase trade between Jordan and Kazakhstan.

The two sides discussed the Jordanian embassy’s role in Kazakhstan in providing a database of Jordanian investment opportunities, exportable goods and the Kazakh market’s requirements for goods and services, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

They also addressed the possibility of Kazakhstan investing more in Jordan and how they can capitalise on the safe and attractive investment climate, with a new law that offers many incentives for investors.

Hajj Tawfiq said that the ACC aims to collaborate with the Jordanian embassy in Kazakhstan to organise joint exhibitions, exchange delegations, explore investment prospects, increase trade, and network with private sector institutions through signing memoranda of understanding.

He proposed organising a one-day exhibition in Kazakhstan to promote Jordanian products, stressing the need of bringing tourism companies from Kazakhstan to Jordan in order to meet with officials and get familiarised with the country’s tourism products, mainly those related to the religious tourism.

For his part, Omari went over the challenges hindering the growth of trade between the two countries, mainly high transportation costs, the absence of direct transportation routes and visa hurdles for Jordanian businessmen.

The ambassador also referred to the upcoming fifth session of the Jordanian-Kazakh Joint Committee, scheduled to take place in Amman in October, emphasising the significance of developing strategies and plans to bolster economic collaboration in sectors such as trade, agriculture and investment.
