ACC chairman addresses UN conference on Jordan’s anti-corruption efforts

AMMAN — Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Muhannad Hijazi has highlighted the growing global commitment to combat corruption, which, propelled by technological advancements, poses a challenge in several countries often aligning with corrupt interest. Addressing the 10th session Conference of the States Parties, the main decision-making body of the UN Convention against Corruption, held in Atlanta, USA, Hijazi highlighted Jordan's anti-corruption efforts, noting that the Kingdom stands out as one of the first countries to ratify the Convention, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. Driven by a serious political will to combat corruption, the Kingdom has made significant progress in combating corruption crimes, resulted in relatively low levels of corruption in the public sector, thanks to measures that include drying up the sources of corruption and national initiatives to promote values, principles and standards of integrity, he said. The five-day conference will discuss the review of the implementation of the UN Convention by member states.
