97% of requests for data approved in 2022 — DoS

AMMAN — Ninety-seven per cent of requests for statistical data were approved by the Department of Statistics (DoS) in 2022, the DoS announced on Tuesday. 

In its annual report for 2022 on data monitoring, the DoS indicated that there were 668 requests for statistical data last year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The report showed that the first quarter of last year saw the highest demand for statistical data and information, accounting for about 29.3 per cent of the total, while the last quarter witnessed the lowest demand for statistical data.

Requests regarding population and social data comprised the largest share of demand, at 47.6 per cent, followed by requests for economic data, at 34.9 per cent.

Researchers composed the largest category of users requesting statistical data, at 28 per cent, while the student and university personnel ranked second, at 25 per cent. Media professionals registered the lowest demand for statistical data, at 2.3 per cent.

Comparing applications for statistical data over several years, the report showed that 2019 saw the highest quantity of submitted requests, with 1,322 applications (26.4 per cent), followed by 2018 and 2020 with 1,196 (23.8 per cent) and 962 (19.2 per cent) applications, respectively. The lowest number of applications were received in 2022, at 13.3 per cent.
