‘7,137 subscribers benefited from unemployment insurance this year’

AMMAN — Some 7,137 social security subscribers have benefited from unemployment insurance since the beginning of 2015, at a cost of JD4 million, the Social Security Corporation (SSC) said Tuesday.

Since the unemployment insurance was introduced four years ago, 24,697 subscribers benefited from it, at a cost of JD19.726 million, the SCC said in a statement, noting that the number indicates instability in the job market. Unemployment insurance provides income for basic living necessities for those who lose their jobs.
