62 COVID deaths, 3,509 virus cases recorded on Monday

AMMAN — Sixty-two COVID-19 deaths and 3,509 virus cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Monday, increasing the caseload to 689,482, the government announced.
The new fatalities took the Kingdom’s coronavirus death toll to 8,308 according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.
The share of tests returning a positive result, known as positive rate, stood at nearly 14.06 per cent, compared with 14.05 per cent reported on Sunday.
A total of 24,956 virus tests were also conducted on Monday, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the outbreak of the pandemic to 6,502,520, according to the statement.
The statement added that 6,005 recoveries were registered in hospitals and home quarantine on Monday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 644,486.
The statement added that there are currently 36,688 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.
A total of 227 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals on Monday, taking the number of patients currently receiving care for COVID-19 in hospitals to 2,090, the statement said, adding that 265 recovered patients left hospitals.
On hospital capacities, the statement revealed that in the northern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds occupied by COVID-19 patients reached 35 per cent, ICU beds reached 59 per cent, while occupancy rate of ventilators stood at 40 per cent.
In the central region, isolation bed occupancy rate reached 39 per cent, 56 per cent for ICUs and 31 per cent for ventilators.
The statement added that the southern region registered an isolation bed occupancy rate of 26 per cent, 31 per cent for ICUs and 17 per cent for ventilators.
The cases comprised 1,487 infections in Amman, 579 in Irbid, including 127 case in Ramtha District, 342 in Zarqa, 217 in Mafraq, 175 in Balqa, 148 in Karak, 107 in Madaba, 99 in Ajloun, 98 in Aqaba, 91 in Jerash, 85 in Tafileh, 81 in Maan, including one case in Petra District.
