AMMAN — Cyprus Ambassador to Jordan Michalis Ioannou praised the countries' political cooperation and recognised Jordan's role as “a linchpin of regional stability” at a ceremony held on Tuesday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Wednesday. During the ceremony marking Cypriot Independence Day, the ambassador celebrated 60 years of diplomatic ties between Jordan and Cyprus, highlighting the nations' shared stances on regional crises. Ioannou referred to a trilateral mechanism recently established between Cyprus, Jordan and Greece as an achievement in cooperation, noting increased collaboration and discussion between the three countries since the agreement.  The ambassador recalled the first trilateral summit in 2018, hosted by the president of Cyprus and attended by His Majesty King Abdullah and the prime minister of Greece, adding that Cypriot President Anastasiades looks forward to their return to Nicosia later this year for the fourth trilateral summit.
