AMMAN — The prosecutor general of the Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC) on Monday ordered the detention of six employees of the National Centre for Agricultural Research and Guidance for 15 days at the correctional and rehabilitation centres on the charges of embezzlement, misuse of public office and waste of public money.
The detainees, including a former director, allegedly forged agreements between 2012 and 2017 with some researchers who were not aware of the scam and issued altered cheques in which the beneficiaries’ names were changed. The squandered amount allegedly totalled some JD3 million, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
