AMMAN — A 44-year-old man was electrocuted to death in Madaba, 30km southwest of the capital, on Monday while on his rooftop, official sources said.
The victim was reportedly checking a water pump on the roof of his four-storey building when “he touched a live electric wire in Hanina town”, a senior official source said.
“The victim was found by a child sent by his mother to check if there was water in their tank. He saw his neighbour lying on the ground and alerted his family,” the senior official told The Jordan Times.
When forensic experts arrived at the scene, they found the man dead, the source maintained.
An official autopsy conducted by pathologists Saif Hamarneh and Wael Hiasat at the Madaba National Institute of Forensic Medicine indicated that the victim died of electrocution, a medical source said.
“The post-mortem indicated that the victim died of heart failure as a result of electrocution,” the medical source told The Jordan Times.
The forensic experts did not find any traces of struggle or bruises on his body, according to the medical source.
