AMMAN — The government on Tuesday signed a finance agreement with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), under which the Dutch government offered an additional grant of 4.13 million euros to contribute to the countryside economic development and employment project implemented by Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) and funded by IFAD.

The grant, benefiting women, young people and junior farmers, aims to increase the use of modern tools in agriculture, irrigation and water harvesting, in addition to increasing the quantity and quality of crops in response to climate change, according to a Planning Ministry statement.

Planning and International Cooperation Minister Nasser Shraideh and IFAD Director for the Near East, North Africa and Europe Dina Saleh signed the agreement. Shraideh expressed gratitude for the Dutch government’s grant, praising the “close” bilateral ties between the government and the IFAD.
