AMMAN — The Jordan Times distributes on Monday the 35th issue of Al Qibla newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Great Arab Revolt.
The newspaper dedicates its front page to a report on the Hashemite School, which was opened in Mecca under Royal directives by King Hussein Bin Ali.
Although it had been open for only 10 days, the paper says, the school projected an image of order, cleanliness and discipline that would be found in schools that had been open for 10 years rather than mere days.
The report commends students' dedication to their studies and the focus on analytical thinking in the teaching methods followed at the school, which overlooked the Grand Mosque.
In this issue, the four-page paper, which stopped printing in 1924, also reports on King Hussein's visit to French and British ships docked on the Red Sea coast in Jeddah.
King Hussein also visited Al Falah School in the coastal city, where he met with students and teachers.
Speaking to teachers, King Hussein said they shoulder the grave responsibility of preparing the future leaders of the Arab nation.
The 35th issue also includes an announcement from the higher education council on new schools being opened, and a summary of a report in Egypt's Al Ahram newspaper on the "smooth" pilgrimage season.
The paper also has at-a-glance news about developments in World War I and the political crisis in Britain, quoting foreign newspapers.
It also runs a story on the situation in Syria and how its residents are struggling under the rule of the ultranationalist Union and Progress government.
The distribution of the paper (1916-1924) by The Jordan Times and other local dailies is part of celebrations of the centennial of the Great Arab Revolt.
