33 COVID deaths, 5,661 virus cases recorded Monday

AMMAN — Thirty-three COVID-19 deaths and 5,661 virus cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Monday, increasing the caseload to 948,966, the government announced.
The new fatalities took the Kingdom’s coronavirus death toll to 11,584, according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health.
The share of tests returning a positive result, known as positive rate, stood at nearly 9.67 per cent.
The statement added that there are currently 53,402 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.
A total of 58,530 virus tests were also conducted on Monday, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the outbreak of the pandemic to 12,116,328, according to the statement.
The statement added that 3,118 recoveries were registered in hospitals and home quarantine on Monday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 883,980.
A total of 182 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals on Monday, taking the number of patients currently receiving care for COVID-19 in hospitals to 1,045, the statement said, adding that 127 recovered patients left hospitals.
On hospital capacities, the statement revealed that in the northern region the occupancy rate of isolation beds occupied by COVID-19 patients reached 28 per cent, ICU beds reached 36 per cent, while the occupancy rate of ventilators stood at 27 per cent.
In the central region, isolation bed occupancy rate reached 23 per cent, 35 per cent for ICUs and 15 per cent for ventilators.
The statement added that the southern region registered an isolation beds occupancy rate of 13 per cent, 13 per cent for ICUs and 11 per cent for ventilators.
The cases comprised 2,130 infections in Amman, 1,165 in Irbid, 659 in Zarqa, 292 in Balqa, 288 in Mafraq, 276 in Karak, 215 in Madaba, 212 in Jerash, 138 in Ramtha District, 122 in Ajloun, 72 in Aqaba, 56 in Tafileh, 36 in Maan, while no cases were reported in Petra District.
The statement added that the total number of people who received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine has reached 4,130,354 while 3,739,571 got their second shot.
The number of people who have registered on the vaccination platform has reached 4,483,922.
