32 COVID deaths, 3,023 virus cases recorded Tuesday

AMMAN — Thirty-two COVID-19 deaths and 3,023 virus cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Tuesday, increasing the caseload to 1,043,266, the government announced.
The new fatalities took the Kingdom’s coronavirus death toll to 12,300, according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.
The share of tests returning a positive result, known as the positive rate, stood at nearly 7.09 per cent.
The statement added that there are currently 55,107 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.
A total of 42,612 virus tests were also conducted on Tuesday, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the outbreak of the pandemic to 13,159,780, according to the statement.
The statement added that 5,180 recoveries were registered in hospitals and home quarantine on Tuesday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 975,859.
A total of 163 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals on Tuesday, taking the number of patients currently receiving care for COVID-19 in hospitals to 1,236, the statement said, adding that 147 recovered patients left hospitals.
On hospital capacities, the statement revealed that in the northern region the occupancy rate of isolation beds occupied by COVID-19 patients reached 28 per cent, ICU beds reached 47 per cent, while the occupancy rate of ventilators stood at 30 per cent.
In the central region, isolation bed occupancy rate reached 31 per cent, 50 per cent for ICUs and 26 per cent for ventilators.
The statement added that the southern region registered an isolation beds occupancy rate of 11 per cent, 17 per cent for ICUs and 14 per cent for ventilators.
The cases comprised 1,045 in Amman, 621 in Irbid, 317 in Balqa, 299 in Zarqa, 149 in Mafraq, 128 in Jerash, 119 in Karak, 110 in Madaba, 82 in Ajloun, 68 in Ramtha District, 52 in Aqaba, 20 in Maan and 13 in Tafileh, while no cases were reported in Petra District.
The statement added that the total number of people who received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine has reached 4,287,150, while 3,867,060 have received their second shot.
The number of people who have registered on the vaccination platform has reached 4,613,194.
