AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Monday announced that embassies’ staff have so far facilitated transit and entry procedures for 310 Jordanians at the border crossings between Ukraine and its neighbouring countries.

Among the 310 Jordanians, 136 people crossed through Romania, 70 through Poland, 56 through Slovakia, 35 through Hungary and 13 through Moldova, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The ministry confirmed that Jordanians have been provided with all forms of assistance and support to ensure their safety to facilitate their return to the Kingdom.

A total of 19 Jordanians have arrived in the Kingdom from Ukraine through Budapest and Bucharest, the Foreign Ministry said.

Also on Monday, the ministry stressed that it is continuing to closely follow up on the conditions of Jordanians in Ukraine.

The ministry stressed that it is in constant contact with Jordanians inside Ukraine and with those at border crossings of neighbouring countries to follow up on their condition and give them directions to ensure their safety under the current circumstances in Ukraine, according to a ministry statement.

In light of the escalating severity of the military crisis in Ukraine, and the announcement of emergency and curfews between 5pm and 8am, the ministry renewed its calls on Jordanians to follow several procedures.

The ministry called on Jordanian nationals in Ukraine to abide by the regulations issued by the Ukrainian authorities, refrain from making any decisions that might endanger their lives and to stay in their homes or shelters whenever necessary.

Jordanians are also urged to take the highest levels of precaution while moving, especially due to the unavailability of public transport and restriction of movement of public trains throughout all Ukrainian cities.

Due to the overcrowding at border crossings between Ukraine and neighbouring countries and the long queues, the ministry called on Jordanians to take the necessary procedures to secure enough food, drinks and blankets due to the cold weather conditions in those areas.

The ministry also urged Jordanians to call emergency lines and hotlines of the ministry’s operations rooms and the concerned embassies so as to inform ministry representatives on the movements and number of Jordanians who have crossed the borders.

In case of emergency, the ministry urged Jordanians in Ukraine to contact the Jordanian embassy’s number in Ankara at 00905384419586 or the Cultural Office in Kyiv at 00380939361181, or by calling the operations centre at the ministry’s headquarters at 00962795497777.
