26 COVID deaths, 5,811 virus cases recorded Monday

AMMAN — Twenty-six COVID-19 deaths and 5,811 virus cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Monday, increasing the caseload to 981,767, the government announced.
The new fatalities took the Kingdom’s coronavirus death toll to 11,787, according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health.
The share of tests returning a positive result, known as the positive rate, stood at nearly 10.72 per cent.
The statement added that there are currently 62,594 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.
A total of 54,223 virus tests were also conducted on Monday, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the outbreak of the pandemic to 12,450,089, according to the statement.
The statement added that 4,549 recoveries were registered in hospitals and home quarantine on Monday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 907,386.
A total of 147 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals on Monday, taking the number of patients currently receiving care for COVID-19 in hospitals to 1,162, the statement said, adding that 151 recovered patients left hospitals.
On hospital capacities, the statement revealed that in the northern region the occupancy rate of isolation beds occupied by COVID-19 patients reached 27 per cent, ICU beds reached 53 per cent, while the occupancy rate of ventilators stood at 35 per cent.
In the central region, isolation bed occupancy rate reached 29 per cent, 41 per cent for ICUs and 21 per cent for ventilators.
The statement added that the southern region registered an isolation beds occupancy rate of 10 per cent, 14 per cent for ICUs and 11 per cent for ventilators.
The cases comprised 1,861 infections in Amman, 1,255 in Irbid, 715 in Zarqa, 432 in Balqa, 348 in Ramtha District, 273 in Madaba, 190 in Ajloun, 184 in Jerash, 183 in Mafraq, 182 in Karak, 77 in Aqaba, 52 in Tafileh, 50 in Maan, and nine cases in Petra District.
The statement added that the total number of people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine has reached 4,187,105 while 3,786,039 have gotten their second shot.
The number of people who have registered on the vaccination platform has reached 4,531,165.
