25 COVID deaths, 10,085 virus cases recorded Sunday

AMMAN — Twenty-five COVID-19 deaths and 10,085 virus cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Sunday, increasing the caseload since the start of the pandemic to 1,570,907, the government announced.
The new fatalities took the Kingdom’s coronavirus death toll to 13,682, according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.
The share of tests returning a positive result stood at 20.72 per cent.
A total of 48,680 virus tests were also conducted on Sunday, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the start of the pandemic to 15,967,864, according to the statement.
The statement added that 18,872 recoveries were registered in hospitals and home quarantine on Sunday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,392,833.
The statement added that there are currently 164,392 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.
A total of 163 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals on Sunday, taking the number of patients currently receiving care for COVID-19 in hospitals to 1,081, while 158 recovered patients left hospitals, the statement said.
Additionally, the statement revealed that in the northern region the occupancy rate of isolation beds occupied by COVID-19 patients reached 22 per cent, and ICU beds reached 43 per cent, while the occupancy rate of ventilators stood at 20 per cent.
In the central region, isolation bed occupancy rate reached 26 per cent, 41 per cent for ICUs and 17 per cent for ventilators.
The statement added that the southern region registered an isolation bed occupancy rate of 14 per cent, 19 per cent for ICUs and 11 per cent for ventilators.
The cases included 3,618 infections in Amman, 1,335 in Irbid, 981 in Zarqa, 1,064 in Balqa, 374 in Jerash, 342 in Ajloun, 495 in Karak, 342 in Madaba, 391 in Mafraq, 374 in Aqaba, 157 in Maan, 235 in Ramtha District, 313 in Tafileh, and 64 cases in Petra District.
The statement also added that the total number of people who received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine has reached 4,661,173 while 4,335,565 have gotten their second shot.
The number of people who have registered on the vaccination platform has reached 4,920,564.
