AMMAN — Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) Hussein Shibli announced on Thursday the entry of the Jordanian aid convoy into the Gaza Strip through the Kerem Shalom border crossing.

The convoy, a collaborative effort between the organisation and the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army, comprises 24 trucks carrying a load of 427 tonnes of foodstuff.

These essential supplies were donated by the Human Appeal Charity, Al Imdaad Charitable Society-South Africa, Tkiyet Um Ali and the World Food Programme (WFP), according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Shabli said that the organisation will coordinate with the WFP in Gaza to ensure the delivery of aid to the local population.

Shabli also said that this convoy is a continuation of Jordan's efforts to support the people in Gaza, adding  that the delivery of aid into the Strip on Thursday coincided with a Jordanian plane leaving for El Arish Airport carrying aid to be transferred to Gaza through the Rafah crossing.

He emphasised the organisation's commitment to receiving donations and coordinating the entry of aid by land and air to support the people in Gaza, noting that cash donations are accepted through the organisation’s bank account at the Union Bank (IBAN: JO32 UBSI 1030 0000 4010 1659 9151 06), electronic wallets, Click JHCOGAZA,  and its website www.jhco.org.jo.
