AMMAN — Security forces on Wednesday arrested two “dangerous” gunmen who resorted to violence to resist arrest during a drug raid, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Using force to resist arrest, one of the two gunmen was injured.
The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) contained the clash, seizing narcotics in the gunmen’s possession.
The Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson indicated that AND investigators were able to locate the two wanted drug dealers, one of whom is classified as “very dangerous”.
The suspects, who were transporting narcotic substances, were followed by security forces.
The media spokesperson said that as soon as security forces surrounded the place, the suspects attempted to escape, ramming into one of the security vehicles and firing at security forces.
The forces applied the rules of engagement, managed to stop the vehicle and arrested the suspects.
The injured gunman was hospitalised, while firearms and narcotics were seized, the source said, adding that investigation remains ongoing.
