19 COVID deaths, 1,174 virus cases recorded on Tuesday

AMMAN — Nineteen COVID-19 deaths and 1,174 virus cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Tuesday, increasing the caseload to 726,432.

The new fatalities took the Kingdom’s coronavirus death toll to 9,295, according to a government statement.

The share of tests returning a positive result, known as positive rate, stood at nearly 3.94 per cent, compared with 3.54 per cent reported on Monday.

A total of 29,802 virus tests were also conducted on Tuesday, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the outbreak of the pandemic to 7,001,979, according to the statement.

The statement added that 1,220 recoveries were registered in hospitals and home quarantine on Tuesday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 706,408.

The statement added that there are currently 10,729 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.

A total of 95 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals on Tuesday, taking the number of patients currently receiving care for COVID-19 in hospitals to 654, the statement said, adding that 127 recovered patients left hospitals.

The cases comprised 487 infections in Amman, 147 in Irbid, including 32 cases in Ramtha District, 131 in Zarqa, 96 in Maan, out of which nine cases in Petra District, 64 in Balqa, 64 in Mafraq, 58 in Karak, 46 in Ajloun, 29 in Jerash, 19 in Aqaba, 19 in Madaba and 14 in Tafileh.
