17th King Abdullah II Award for Physical Fitness launched

AMMAN — The Education Ministry on Monday launched the 17th edition of the King Abdullah II Award for Physical Fitness for the 2022/2023 academic year.
Deputising for Education Minister Azmi Mahafzah, director of educational activities at the ministry, Abdulsalam Shunnaq inaugurated the event.
He said that the award, the first edition of which kicked off in 2005, is a Royal initiative that aims to support students, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Shunnaq noted that some 800,000 students are participating in this edition from all the Kingdom's public, private, military and UNRWA schools, pointing out that participants are between the ages of 9 and 17.
The goals behind King Abdullah II Award for Physical Fitness are to build and enhance self-confidence, encourage competition and self-challenge among students, build a culture of a healthy lifestyle based on exercise and a sound nutritional system on a systematic, voluntary basis and to detect and enhance students' potential, talents and skills, according to the Royal Hashemite Court website.
