AMMAN — The 17th edition of World Cyber Security Summit kicked off on Monday, under the patronage of Prime Minister Bisher Al Khaswaneh, and supported by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship.
The two-day event, organised by the Jordan Cyber Security Awareness Association (JOCSA), is part of a global series brought to Jordan by Trescon, a global business events and consulting firm that specialises in hosting future-tech events across the world, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) President Bassam Maharmeh, during the opening ceremony, highlighted the importance of cyber security in all aspects of life, noting that digital transformation is an engine for economic development, and opens the door to new opportunities in e-commerce and economic growth, all of which bring new challenges.
The NCSC has managed to address several cyber attacks and a number of attacks targeting the government, he said, stating that the "Nashama Cyber" project would be launched to provide cyber security training to university graduates.
JOCSA President Mohammad Rifai said that Jordan is a hub for cyber security, noting that it has advanced by 18 places globally and two spots at the Arab level on the UN International Telecommunication Union (ITU)’s measurement of commitment to improve cyber security.
The conference agenda includes the following topics: Jordan’s cyber security roadmap for the digital revolution, cyber security of the Jordanian government, cyber security a growth partner for modern businesses, the zero trust model, or how to enhance application security, how to protect data at constant communication, multi-layered security and data security, the most important threats and best practices, and meeting the needs of modern organisations.
The summit hosts more than 300 attendees, including government officials, chief information security officers, chief information officers, CEOs and technology leaders from enterprises and government agencies in Jordan to meet, network and engage with global cyber security experts and technology innovators over the course of two days.
