‘165 human trafficking cases recorded in Jordan in 2014’

AMMAN — The number of human trafficking cases in the Kingdom increased from 92 in 2013 to 165 in 2014, Labour Minister Nidal Katamine said Saturday, expecting the number to gradually decrease due to procedures being taken to curb the phenomenon.

At a workshop on human trafficking, Katamine noted that the ministry offered shelter to 122 possible victims of human trafficking in addition to offering exemptions and return tickets to 60 other persons.

He added that Jordan has achieved an advanced rank in combating the phenomenon, citing the 2014 US Department of State Annual Global Trafficking in Persons report.
