AMMAN — The Amman prosecutor general on Saturday decided to use alternative penalties for 15 individuals who invaded a football pitch instead of jail time.

The 15 fans now face an entry ban to stadiums, not allowing them to attend the league's sporting events for a whole month, and placing them under electronic surveillance through the electronic monitoring bracelets, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Jordan has adopted a progressive policy for first-time offenders, notably in implementing alternatives to custodial penalties. The number of beneficiaries of alternative justice methods has reached 1,066 convicts this year.
