AMMAN — The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) finished distributing 14,315 school uniforms to female students through the Blue-Green Campaign on Tuesday, Assistant Secretary-General Mohammad Kilani told The Jordan Times on Thursday.
In cooperation with the Education Ministry, All Jordan Youth Commission volunteers and JHCO’s volunteering team “Sanid” the Blue-Green Campaign helped distribute 8,281 blue uniforms and 6,034 green uniforms to primary and secondary female students this year.
The assistant secretary-general said that the campaign targetted 70 schools in underprivileged areas in six governorates and eight provinces, according to Department of Statistics data, helping to decrease the burden of school expenses on families.
Explaining the organisation’s special interest in the education sector, Kilani said that the JHCO distributes schoolbags and stationery supplies at the beginning of each school year, equips schools’ computer labs and carries out maintenance work at schools.
He also said that “the organisation built three schools in Irbid, Mafraq and Amman, as the number of students increased due to having Syrian refugees, which placed pressure on the Education Ministry”.
Kilani added that the JHCO has dispatched humanitarian and medical aid convoys to Palestine. Moreover, the organisation has launched campaigns preparing needy families for winter and distributing food packages to the poor.
The JHCO has also established development projects providing professional training for youth and preparing women in “women-headed families” to develop handicraft professions, the assistant secretary-general said.
Kilani expressed gratitude to official entities that support JHCO’s initiatives and campaigns by delivering humanitarian aid to victims of manmade and natural disasters, locally and abroad.
