AMMAN — Under the Royal patronage, the 13th Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week, is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday.

Held under the theme: "The New Digital Frontiers of Information: Media and Information Literacy for Public-interest Information,” the conference is organised by UNESCO in partnership with the Ministry of Government Communications.

The event reflects Jordan's leadership in promoting media and information literacy in the Arab world, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The two-day conference will bring together more than 30 speakers from Jordan and across the globe to explore the role of media and information literacy in navigating rapid changes in the creation, dissemination and consumption of information.

Discussions will highlight the power of education to build media literacy skills.

With the aim of fostering dialogue and collaboration, the conference will provide a platform for government agencies, educational institutions, civil society organisations, media outlets and technology companies to come together to share insights on how to promote media literacy, enhance cross-sector cooperation and address emerging challenges in the digital landscape.

The Cabinet recently approved the hosting of this annual UNESCO-led event, underscoring the Kingdom's commitment to promoting media and information literacy.
