AMMAN — Mayor of Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Yousef Shawarbeh on Sunday signed an agreement to provide 136 buses through the Turkish Autocar company, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The new buses will be added to the 135-bus fleet that operates on Amman bus routes.

Shawarbeh added that the municipality is keen to raise the efficiency of Amman’s transportation services through building partnerships with financers, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The new buses adhere to the latest international standards in terms of public safety for passengers, run on diesel, and are equipped with an electronic payment system, cameras, indoor screens, and specifications to serve people with disabilities.

The specifications were selected in cooperation with technical advisers from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Amman Municipality.
