AMMAN — The Ministry of Tourism and the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) have launched activities of “Urdun Jannah” domestic tourism programme at the cultural square of Karak Castle.
The launch of the programme, which aims to support domestic tourism, saw a large attendance, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The programme features multiple music and folklore performances, bazaars and art shows at Karak’s archaeological sites, which are scheduled to continue until the end of September, according to a ministry statement released on Saturday.
The launch of these activities aims to revive tourism in the Kingdom’s governorates, acquaint citizens with the country’s diverse tourist and archaeological sites and empower local communities by holding bazaars by Karak’s charitable associations, the statement added.
Reservations for the programme’s tours, which are subsidised to cover more than 50 per cent of the cost of each trip for Jordanians, will be made by travel agencies listed on the “Jannah.jo” application on smart phones, the ministry noted.
