‘Shame crime’
Oct 11,2016 - Last updated at Oct 11,2016
I read frequently in The Jordan Times and other newspapers about the so-called honour crimes.
I think it is high time to change this terminology, as there is no honour in any crime.
This expression, which is abusive and insulting, gives a positive idea about such crimes and perhaps even encourages ignorant persons to indulge in such a horrible act, believing that they are cleansing their or their families’ honour.
This is a shame crime.
As a progressive country, we should enforce stricter laws to deal with such acts that affect the reputation of Jordan and all Jordanians.
