Month to develop
Jul 11,2015 - Last updated at Jul 11,2015
Ramadan, a very special month, should be the right time to start planning for your self-development.
Individuals looking to be successful in the future should start asking themselves what is important and what they want in life. They should get into a dialogue with their heart. There are many times when the heart actually protests our wrongdoings, but we ignore it.
Now is the time to be true to oneself and consult the heart when in doubt. One should not feel scared to acknowledge one’s ego and crush one’s arrogance.
Spending some time alone every day for deep contemplation helps with self-reflection. One could think of what went wrong in one’s life or why happiness eludes one despite all one has.
It is time to come up with resolutions to improve oneself, to quit bad habits and attitudes. Then pray for strength. When one’s intention is sincere, divine help will follow.
Ramadan could also be the time to mend broken relationships. The concept of solidarity, brotherhood and kinship should be emphasised.
If one has not been on good terms with a friend or a family member, one should honour Ramadan by reconciling and patching up broken hearts through soothing words of apology or loving gestures.
Apologising does not mean losing, and the reward of building human relationships is immense.
One should also be kind and patient. Patience is crucial for success in anything one does.
If angered, one should restrain oneself and think before blurting out words.
Every success starts with a single step, and every step starts with an intention.
May all become successful with the blessing of this Ramadan!
