AMMAN — Jordan’s digital payment systems achieved a significant milestone this year, processing around JD27.35 billion in transactions during the first 11 months of 2024, marking a 53 per cent increase compared with the JD17.95 billion recorded during the same period in 2023, according to the Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JoPACC).

The transactions were conducted through three major platforms: eFAWATEERcom, CliQ, and JoMoPay. EFAWATEERcom led the way, accounting for JD11.85 billion of the total, followed by CliQ with JD10.8 billion, and JoMoPay at JD4.73 billion.

Over 80 per cent of the transactions conducted on CliQ and JoMoPay involved money transfers, while eFAWATEERcom was predominantly used for government-related payments, including settling utility bills and fees for public institutions.

In terms of volume, the total number of transactions across these platforms reached a record 184 million payments and bill settlements, reflecting the growing adoption of digital financial services in Jordan.

The surge in digital payment adoption has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from users, particularly during the busy year-end period.

Dounia Rousan, a working mother, commended the systems for their efficiency.

“I can pay my children’s school fees and utility bills in minutes. It saves me so much time, and now, with year-end preparations, I can also easily buy my kids’ presents without worrying,” she told The Jordan Times.

Rania Mansour, a small business owner, said, “With CliQ, I transfer salaries to my employees instantly, and I no longer have to deal with cash logistics.”

Suha Khalid, a government employee, said that digital payment platforms have made a significant difference in her personal life.

“Sending money to my family has become hassle-free. It’s especially convenient during the busy holiday season,” she note
