In August, the ICT Ministry plans to turn the country’s governorates into “smart zones”. A new programme was launched aiming at increasing Jordan's ICT exports and competitiveness to help the industry overcome regional conditions and boost revenues
In October, the government announced a package of tax incentives to stimulate investments in the sector. Services related to software development, mobile apps, website portals, outsourcing, digital content and electronic games, information technology training and e-learning are exempted from sales tax and customs duties. The government also announced plans for a strategy that will function as a roadmap to make Jordan a regional ICT hub in 2016
In November, Jordan witnessed the initial launch of the Jordan Space Ventures Fund
In December, Jordan awarded a contract to Cisco Systems to connect public facilities in the southern governorates to the National Broadband Network and provide them with high-speed Internet
